50 Days Ablaze

"They asked each other, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?'" Luke 24:32

The 50 Days Ablaze Missions/Outreach Journey is for individual and congregational spiritual growth and commitment. St. Luke developed 50 Days Ablaze with the 50 days from Easter to Pentecost in mind, but a congregation can use it at any time in the year.  The participation is three-tiered:

  • Individual - Members read daily devotions based on the seven mission responses of the Ablaze initiative.

  • Group - Members meet weekly in small group Bible studies based on the seven mission responses.

  • Congregational - Members participate in weekly worship services and hear sermons based on the seven mission responses.

Other events during the 50 Days may include a Kick-Off Event, a Missions Fair, Servant Events, and a Celebration Event.

50 Daily Devotions

Daily Devotions were written for 50 Days Ablaze! by Rev. Barry J. Keurulainen, Senior Pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church and School, Cabot, Pennsylvania, and were approved by LCMS Doctrinal Review.  They are posted below in seven sets, along with accompanying pages and a front and back cover.

Please feel free to download these devotions and reproduce them for your congregation's use. These devotions may not be edited, sold or used for other purposes without the prior written consent of the author. Effort was made to give credit where it is due; please include the copyright page and bibliography when distributing copies of the devotions.

The following are PDF files. You will need Acrobat Reader to open them.
